Postnatal recovery in the studio

Pelvic floor course for postnatal recovery Back to your centre

Eight sessions from about eight weeks after birth, in a small group in the studio in Berlin-Charlottenburg. Your baby is welcome to come along.

About the course

After birth you often hear that everything now has to get firm again. I see it a little differently. A pelvic floor that carries you well can do both, tense and let go. That is what this course is built on.

Over eight sessions you get to know your pelvic floor again after birth. We start with sensing and build up gentle strength endurance step by step: measured, without pressure to perform, and always with room to relax. You also take away movements that make everyday life with your baby easier, from lifting and carrying to getting out of bed.

Your baby is welcome to come along. If they are hungry or want to be carried, that is no problem: you look after your child and join back in when you are ready.

The course does not replace your midwife's postnatal class. You can take it alongside or afterwards.

Course plan

The eight sessions

The course is based on the BeBo® concept, a Swiss standard for pelvic floor training in which I am certified. The eight topics follow the structure BeBo® sets out for postnatal recovery. Each session lasts 60 minutes and builds on the one before.

  1. Session 1 · Wed, 11 Nov 2026

Your pelvic floor checks back in

Where your pelvic floor is, what birth did to it, and what the right dose feels like.

  2. Session 2 · Wed, 18 Nov 2026

    Closing the centre

Bringing the abdominal wall back through the breath rather than classic ab training, with an eye on diastasis recti.

  3. Session 3 · Wed, 25 Nov 2026

    Posture

Leaving the pregnancy posture behind and setting up everyday life with a baby to spare your pelvic floor: lifting, carrying, feeding, getting up.

  4. Session 4 · Wed, 2 Dec 2026

    Bladder and bowel

The topic hardly anyone talks about, and everyday habits that take the load off your pelvic floor.

  5. Session 5 · Wed, 9 Dec 2026

    Breathing

Diaphragm and pelvic floor as one system, and your breath as the tool that carries every other exercise.

  6. Session 6 · Wed, 16 Dec 2026

    Prolapse and relief

What a prolapse is, without scaremongering, and relief as a form of training in its own right.

  7. Session 7 · Wed, 23 Dec 2026

    Balance and sexuality

A pelvic floor that can react quickly, and a topic many postnatal classes leave out.

  8. Session 8 · Wed, 30 Dec 2026

    Ready for everyday life

Bringing it all together, with baby and pram, and an honest look at how things can continue for you.

Course details

What you take away, and what you need

What do you take away?

  • You consciously feel your pelvic floor again after birth
  • Gentle strength endurance, measured and without pressure
  • As much room for letting go as for tensing
  • Breathing exercises that support your core
  • Movements for everyday life with a baby: lifting, carrying, feeding
  • Exercises for home that fit into your day with a baby
  • Exchange with other mums in a small group

What do you need?

  • From about eight weeks after birth, after your final gynaecological check-up
  • After a vaginal birth or a caesarean, no previous experience needed
  • Comfortable clothes and warm non-slip socks
  • Something to drink
  • A blanket for your baby to lie on next to you
  • Mats and stools are provided
  • A quick go-ahead from your gynaecologist or midwife beforehand

You can take part if …

  • your baby was born about eight weeks ago,
  • you have had your final gynaecological check-up and it was clear
  • and you have healed well, after a vaginal birth or a caesarean.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is the better first step if …

  • you had a third- or fourth-degree tear
  • you have a known prolapse
  • you are dealing with significant incontinence, of urine or stool
  • you have ongoing pain in your pelvis, perineum or caesarean scar
  • your wounds have not finished healing

Your gynaecologist can prescribe the physiotherapy. Afterwards, the course is a good next step. If in doubt, ask your doctor or midwife.

Frequently asked questions

How soon after birth can I join?

From about eight weeks after birth, once you have had your final gynaecological check-up. That applies after a vaginal birth just as after a caesarean. Please speak to your gynaecologist or midwife first.

Can my baby come along?

Yes. If they are hungry or want to be carried, that is no problem: you look after your child and join back in when you are ready. Bring a blanket for them to lie on next to you.

Is this the same as the postnatal class with my midwife?

No. Your midwife's postnatal class is usually paid for by health insurance. My course is self-pay and focuses on the pelvic floor. You can take it alongside or afterwards.

When is this course not the right first step?

If you had a third or fourth degree perineal tear, have a known prolapse or are struggling a lot with incontinence, pelvic floor physiotherapy is the better first step. The course is prevention and training, not medical treatment.

Does health insurance pay for the course?

No. The course is self-pay and is not certified under § 20 SGB V, so statutory health insurers do not subsidise it.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Up to 14 days before the first session you can cancel free of charge; after that the scale in the terms and conditions applies. You can name a replacement participant at any time, and then no cancellation fee is due.
